The Lely Group from the Netherlands and the German company fodjan have entered into a partnership with the aim of accelerating the development of feeding software from November 1, 2016. For dairy farms, feeding is an important success factor as it has a decisive impact on animal health and performance. For this reason, intelligent feeding solutions are a top priority for Lely and fodjan.
Alexander van der Lely, CEO of the Lely Group, says: “Lely is always looking interesting technologies that make farmers more successful. Together with fodjan, as specialized start-up company in the field of cloud-based livestock farming and feeding, we want to further develop the software and take it to the next level”.
Carsten Gieseler, co-founder and managing director of fodjan explains: “Our program offers a simple, practical approach for the application of extensive scientific knowledge about feeding. The software provides possibilities and comparisons are available, which individual farmers have not previously used in calculating their rations had.”
While feeding programs traditionally work with a linear model, fodjan Smart Feeding works with an algorithm that enables “multi-target optimization”. It weighs all factors relevant for feeding and gives the user an overview of the various realistic feeding strategies. The software takes into account the feed inventory and the needs of the herd itself, and suggests alternative rations based on this.
