Feed analyses – as new feed or overwrite?

In fodjan, you can save the feed analyses that you receive via the laboratory interface,

  • save them as a new feed
  • or overwrite an old feed.

When is which option recommendable?

This option is suitable if you

  • have received a feed analysis of a certain feed for the first time and you do not yet have this feed in your feed stock
  • if you want to reuse the overview of changes in your feeds as individual feeds in rations at any time (e.g. if you blend one feed with another).
  • It also makes sense for users of the app to save the feed analyses as new feeds, as the old feed analyses are archived when they are overwritten and are therefore no longer visible to the user of the app.

! But !, this fills up your feed inventory view very quickly and can easily become confusing if you don’t work well with the title and description of the feeds.

You can also overwrite a previous feed from the stock with your data from the feed analysis. This is useful, for example, if

  • the silage of the previous year has been used up and is to be replaced by the silage of the current year
  • if you want your feed stock view to be tidy and only filled with the current fodder.

The traceability of the changes is also guaranteed here, because when overwriting, the previous data status of the overwritten feed is stored in the feed archive. However, you can only view this status, but not retrieve it. To restore the old status, you must manually transfer the data back to the feed or a new feed.

! But !: An archived feed can no longer be seen in the app, in Pro it appears with the archived feed analyses. In this way, your feed analysis archive can provide an overview of all used feeds from feed analyses.

How to adopt feed analyses (new or replacement)

To save a feed analysis as a new feed in fodjan Pro, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the desired feed analysis (under Feedstuffs > Feed Analyses) and click on the stock symbol.
  1. Now you can decide how you want to take over your feed analysis.

At the top you can select a template for the feed, which will then be overwritten or supplemented with the analysis values.

  • Enter manually = save only the values from the feed analysis as a new feed.
  • From stock = update a feed from the stock with the new values.
  • From database = select a database feed as a template and overwrite/supplement with the analysis values.
  1. Enter the price as well as the current quantity in your stock and go to “Save” at the bottom right.

You can now use the feed from the feed analyses in your rations, more about this here.

To use a feed analysis as in the fodjan app, proceed as follows:
