Recommendation: Before you do the documentation on feeding, we recommend that you read the help article “Introduction: Documentation in fodjan“. There we explain many general functions that you will also find in the documentation of feeding.
In fodjan you can document
- the feed provision
- the feed residue at the feed table
- the DM content of the mixed ration
- and the concentrate consumption of the station
Required user rights: Write rights, owner or admin.
In the left menu, go to Documentation > Feed.
Go to provided feed in the upper left corner. At the top right, select between herd and group or between per day and period, depending on how you want to document the values. The values entered per group are automatically summed up for the herd. However, you can adjust these summed values for the herd – this makes sense, for example, if you do not manage all your animals in fodjan.
You can enter the values manually. These appear in black.
If you use the feed mixer interface and have imported the data from there, they appear green. You can then confirm the values with “Accept values” or discard them with “Remove values”. If there are several feedings per day, totals within the group are calculated automatically (grey, bold).
Provided feed values are not automatically updated.
In the upper left corner, go to Residuals Feed Table. At the top right, select between herd and group or between per day and period, depending on how you want to document the values.
You can document residual feed quantities manually here. Values are not automatically updated. More about residual feed settings in fodjan.
Go to dry matter content of mixed ration at the top left. You can choose between herd and group in the upper right corner.
Values can be documented manually (black values).
If the feed mixer interface is set up, values for the DM can also be imported from there. These appear in green in the documentation.
DM values are automatically updated after each change (last import, last manual documentation) (grey values).
Both the updated grey values and the imported green values can be confirmed with “Accept values” or discarded with “Remove values”.
Go to consumption at concentrate feeder at the top. At the top right, select between herd and group or between per day and period, depending on how you want to document the values.
Values can simply be entered manually in the fields. They are not automatically updated.
In the menu at the bottom, go to Reports. Then click on Documentation at the top. Alternatively, you can also access this via quick access on the overview page.
You can now document the provided feed, feed residuals, DM content of the mixed ration and concentrate consumption in the station.
Click on provided feed.
The feed provision can be documented manually for a period of time or for a specific day. You can also choose between whole herd and per group.
For the entire herd, the quantity in kg fresh matter (FM) is given for the entire day or period.
If per group is selected, the quantity is given in kg FM for the entire day or period selected above.
The values for feed provision are not automatically updated.
The values for the feed provision can be taken either from the manual documentation or from the values of “Feed now”. More information can be found here.

Click on residuals feed table.
The residuals (leftover feed table) can be documented manually for a period of time or for a specific day. You can also choose between whole herd and per group.
For the entire herd, the quantity is given in kg FM for the entire day or period.
If per group is selected, the quantity in kg FM is given for the entire day or period per group.
The values for feed presentation are not automatically updated.
Click on dry matter content of mixed ration.
Documentation can only be done per day. You can also choose between whole herd and per group.
The dry matter values are automatically updated from the last change.
Click on consumption at contentrate feeder.
The concentrate consumption station can be documented manually for a period of time or for a specific day. You can also choose between whole herd and per group.
If per group is selected, the amount in kg FM for the entire day or period is given as the sum of the feed consumption of all feed stations in the group.
The concentrate for which the quantity is to be documented can be selected.
The amount of concentrate is entered in kg FM.
There is no automatic update.
