Feeding accuracy and consumption

Required: fodjan Dairy Cow (Pro or Premium App).

In both the fodjan Pro and the fodjan App, you can display the report for feed mixing accuracy and feed consumption. This way you can always see how well the calculated and fed rations match and where inaccuracies occur during feeding.

The data on mixing accuracy come from:

  • either from the import of feed mixer data – see feed mixer interface
  • or from the “Feed now” function of the fodjan App.
  • (Data from the concentrate station consumption documentation is not displayed, as this is applied differently for each animal)

In fodjan Pro you will find feeding accuracy and feed consumption together in one report. To do this, go to Reports > Feeding accuracy in the left menu.

If you use the feed mixer interface or the “Feed now” function, your feed groups are now displayed one below the other with the fed rations of the last 14 days.

One field contains the following information:
  • The large number indicates how many kg FM were actually fed per feeding. If there are several feedings per day, there is more than one line per group.
  • The small percentage figure indicates by how many % the actually fed amount deviates from the planned amount of feed in the ration.
  • If the deviations are not too large, the box appears white.

The boxes appear red for a deviation of more than

  • 10% for roughage components
  • 5% for concentrate components
  • 2.5% for mineral feed components
Change period:

If you want to display a different period, click in the date field at the top. You can now select the start date. The period start date + 14 days will then be displayed automatically.

If you want to display the previous or subsequent 14-day period, you can click on the arrow symbols to the left or right.

Displaying individual or other feeds or feed groups

If you click on the “Filter feed groups” button on the right, you can select specific feed groups to have the mixing accuracy displayed only for them. You can select one, several or all feed groups.

You can also use the “Filter feedstuff” button to display the mixing accuracy of specific feeds. You can select one, several or all feeds.

You can also evaluate the mixing accuracy in the fodjan app if you use the “Feed now” function. If you use the fodjan app within the scope of your fodjan Pro licence, via which you use the feed mixer interface, the data from this will also be displayed here.

To do this, go to “Reports” in the bottom menu:

Click on “Feeding accuracy”:

The period of the last 14 days is now automatically displayed. Today’s date is at the top. Each feeding is listed individually.

In the bar chart you get an overview of the deviations of the ration components of the fed ration from your planned ration (per feeding). Automatically, the first feed is selected (marked green).

The columns are green if the deviations are not too large. The columns are red if the deviation is more than

  • 10% for roughage components
  • 5% for concentrate components
  • 2.5% for mineral feed components

You can also display a different feed. To do so, click on the corresponding feed symbol.

  • In green are the roughage feedstuffs,
  • in orange the concentrated feeds
  • and the mineral feed components are shown in grey.

You can also display all feeds for a specific day. To do so, click on “show all” at the bottom left of the corresponding feeding on the desired date.

To the right of the numbers you will find the following information on each feed:

  • The left of the three numbers indicates the calculated quantity in kg FM per feeding.
  • The middle of the three numbers indicates the quantities fed in kg FM per feeding after “Feed now” or feed mixer interface (app use as part of a fodjan Pro licence).
  • The right of the three numbers (in brackets) indicates the deviation of the fed quantity from the calculated quantity in “%”.
  • Below, the calculated (left) and fed (right) quantity in kg FM total for this feeding is given again.
Change period or feeding group:
  • By clicking in the left field with the date you can adjust the start date, by clicking in the right field with the date you can adjust the end date. Confirm your entry with the green tick symbol to the right. You can also select a longer or shorter period than 14 days here.
  • At the top you can see from which feed group the evaluations are currently displayed. To change the feed group, click on the feed group symbol on the right. Now select the desired feed group.

In fodjan Pro you can also display the feed consumption. To do this, go to Reports in the menu and click on “Feed consumption” here. Here, too, the data comes from the feed mixing technology or the “Feed now” function in the fodjan app.

At the top you can select one or more groups or the herd in total as well as the desired month for which you want to display the feed consumption.

On the right, the total per feed and for the group or herd in total feed quantity is always displayed. These figures can also be easily downloaded by clicking on the button “Export Excel” and used e.g. for bookkeeping or personal evaluations.

In the fodjan App Premium you can also display the feed consumption. To do this, go to Reports in the lower menu and click on “Feedstuff consumption”.

At the top you can select the date for which you want to display the feed consumption.

By clicking on the corresponding component, you can display the feed consumption from the selected date +/- 7 days. The quantity from the selected date is highlighted in light green.
